Gates at North Entrance

We recently installed gates at the north entrance (Irish Hill Dr) of the property. The gates will remain closed and locked permanently, except in emergency situations. Local Police and Fire Departments have keys to allow access if needed.

Many homeowners have requested these gates and the Board of Directors approved the expense at the last Annual Members Meeting.

In hopes to make the Oak Shores community more secure, we have already noticed a significant decrease in unwanted vehicle and foot traffic by nonresidents.

The south entrance (Beach Blvd) will remain open and will be the only way to access the property.

Cruisin' the Coast 2012

Cruisin the Coast was a huge success this year. With a record-breaking number of 6169 cars registered for the event and at least another 3000 unregistered classic vehicles.

We had a perfect week of weather and the property was very busy. The visitors seemed to enjoy Oak Shores and said they will return next year.

Update from Board of Directors

 Dear Homeowners

The new Board of Directors of Oak Shores have been working to make changes to our existing by laws and improvements to our property which we feel will make our community a better place.

We have hired an attorney who is working on a draft of the new by laws we have created.  After the draft is completed a Special Members Meeting will be called.  At this time a copy of all changes or amendments to be made will be provided and a majority vote either in person or by proxy will be taken to approve said changes.  We feel the new by laws are key factors which will aid in the improvement and stability of Oak Shores.  You will be notified soon as to the date of the Special Meeting and receive a copy of proposed amendments by mail.  A proxy will be provided for those who cannot attend the special meeting.  Just a few items under review include past due accounts, pets, tenants, and HOA fees.

One item we have already approved and are in the process of implementing includes installing a security gate at the rear entrance.  This will be a non working gate which will only be opened when necessary such as Crusin the Coast or during events which require rear access.  The City of Biloxi has approved this gate to be non-operable.  We feel that installing a non working gate  will cut down on the amount of non resident vehicular and pedestrian traffic which has become a problem.  It will also serve as an added security measure to ensure that only residents and renters are on site.

Lastly, it is with excitement that we are able to tell you that your HOA fees are being lowered.  Effective January 1, 2013 all monthly HOA Dues  will be lowered by 18%.  However,  as of September 30, 2012 if your account balance is current with no past due amount then starting October 1, 2012 those unit owners will be able to take advantage of the savings and start paying the reduced rate at that time. This is to show our appreciation for those home owners who have continued to pay their dues on time and with no past due balance.  We look forward to working together as a team to make Oak Shores a stronger community.

 Sincerely,

The Board of Directors of the Oak Shores Homeowners Association

Hurricane Isaac

The Oak Shores property withstood Hurricane Isaac's strong winds and torrential rain extremely well.

Upon close inspection, we found very minimal damage. Only a few small pieces of siding were displaced and a couple minor roof leaks were reported.

These pictures were taken immediately after the storm on 8/30/12.

All storm debris (limbs, leaves, etc) has been removed. Pools were cleaned and open for Labor Day weekend.

We would like to thank all residents, owners and management companies for cooperating in hurricane preparations.
